Love in Two Cities and martial arts and Tilian, the first online martial arts friendly competition in Hangzhou Verona in 2023 was launched

This time at this intersection, we think of more than just Liangshan Bozhu Yingtai and Romeo Juliet. When Hangzhou in China and Verona in Italy – two love capitals known for romance in the East and the West, begin to meet friends with martial arts, what kind of sparks will arise between them? On August 8, the launching ceremony of the first online martial arts friendly competition in Hangzhou Verona in 26 was held simultaneously at the Haotian Martial Arts Hall of the West Lake District Cultural and Sports Center in Hangzhou and the Juliani Manor of the Verona venue.

Both Hangzhou and Verona have a long history and cultural tradition, rich cultural resources and diverse arts, sports and traditions. In 2019, witnessed by the heads of state of China and Italy, Hangzhou and Verona signed the Agreement on Friendly Relations between World Heritage Sites, which kicked off cultural exchanges between Hangzhou and Verona.

A letter from the Mayor of Verona in 2023 sincerely expressed Verona's emphasis on the friendly relationship between the two cities, its love for Chinese culture, its expectation for deepening exchanges between the two cities in various fields, and its blessings to Hangcheng. At his initiative, the two cities actively launched online sports and cultural exchange activities.

At the launching ceremony, the Chinese martial arts champions, taekwondo champions and skipping champions at the Hangzhou venue presented wonderful performances of Shaolin boxing, taekwondo and fancy rope skipping respectively, and the Asian Games song "Waiting for You" as the accompaniment of the wonderful performance of jumping rope flowers, which won the applause of the Chinese venue.

Similarly, the Verona venue in Italy also presented a series of excellent programs. Taijiquan teachers and traditional martial arts enthusiasts respectively displayed the wonderful performances of individual Tai Chi and group Tai Chi, and overseas Chinese students studying at Verona Conservatory of Music sent beautiful Chinese songs to everyone, wishing Hangzhou Verona a long-term friendship and happiness and well-being of the citizens of the two cities.
The Hangzhou Asian Games in September is not only a sports arena, but also an important cross-cultural exchange friendship platform. The Asian Games is about to be held, and the Chinese and foreign participants at the scene sincerely wish the Hangzhou Asian Games a complete success.


Xie Hao, Secretary General of Hangzhou Rope Skipping Association, President of Hangzhou Karate Sports Association and Hangzhou West Lake District Competitive Martial Arts Association, is the main person in charge of this event. He said that taking the opportunity of the Asian Games, he hopes to build a competitive platform to carry forward the spirit of martial arts, promote martial arts sports and enhance cultural exchanges. The first offline sports culture martial arts exchange competition between Hangzhou and Verona will be held in Hangzhou next year, and I hope that more Verona martial arts fans will have the opportunity to come to Hangzhou.

Pier from Verona, an "old Hangzhou native" who has lived in Hangzhou for 12 years, actively contributed to the implementation of the event with a deep affection for the two cities. Pier admits that the online event is just a good start, and that the two cities will closely carry out more exchanges in various cultural fields in the future.
